Impossible de rester à la même place, l’art singulier n’est jamais où on le pense mais bien dans le mouvement - L’association "La Sauce singulière" peut vous fournir sur demande un disque bleu (3 euros/ pièce) - L’association "La Sauce singulière" sélectionnera des disques pour concevoir le visuel du festival "hors les normes art singulier" de Lyon à l’automne 2005. So let us restore his extremities and give him the chance to engage in the battle against ignorance, arrogance, poverty, and misery, and put up a good fight for peace, friendship, love, and understanding.
Perhaps a little mouse can save this beautiful world that mankind is going to destroy with egoism, wars, and pollution.

MOUSE-AGE - How the computer mouse has changed the world, rise and fall of a plastic creature.
When Douglas C. Engelbert from the Stanford Research Institute in California developed 1968 a wooden box named "X-Y position indicator for a display system" nobody was interested in this useless toy.
Two young Swiss engineers, Daniel Borel and Pierluigi Zappacosta, founded 1981 "Logitech". They took up Engelbert's idea and transformed his clumsy box into a handy little animal, taped to a point, with a fat back part, and a long tail : the computer mouse was born. Later on Steve Jobs, the founder of "Apple", and finally Bill Gates helped the plastic rodent to spread all over the world. Today no business, no communications, no informations can do without it. It has changed the world - for better or worse? But how tragic: with development it is going to loose its tail. In the open country no mouse can survive without it! And within the next decade it will probably have died out.

I am a librarian at the Technical University of Munich - nowadays I nearly handle any books but sit in front of the computer all day long. Privately I am working on rats and mice in culture and history. My collection includes 13.000 postcards, 1500 books, 5000 figures, and 1000 pieces of art.
In 2000, I had the project "Rats and mice - think twice !", and in 2002 "Pied Pipers of today" which most of you attended. They were a big success, and the exhibitions in Berlin and Hamelin were even honored by the local press. Thank you for your support !

Art postal - lundi 18 novembre 2002 - Objet : Bienvenue à art-postal - Bonjour, Créateur d'Art Postal mais surtout commissaire de la Fête du livre de Villeurbanne, nous avons réussi à faire admettre à nos partenaires des différentes prisons de Lyon et de Saint-Quentin Fallavier de la nécessité de mettre en place des ateliers d'Art Postal dans trois des quatre prisons dans lesquelles nous intervenons. Nous allons dans un premier temps sensibiliser le personnel administratif et dans un temps initier les détenus à l'Art Postal par une présentation, un historique et la mise à disposition des 200 art-postaux que nous avons reçus autour du Petit Prince puis nous mettrons en relation les détenus avec un plasticien, un illustrateur ou un créateur d'Art Postal pour qu'il y ait une relation entre eux. Nous avons l'accord d'un grand nombre d'entre eux, entre autres Marie Morel, Nicolas Cardon, Eni Looka... mais nous en recherchons d'autres car cette initiative est destinée à faire tâche d'huile et à donner aux détenus les moyens de s'initier à autre chose. Le thème de notre prochaine Fête du Livre qui aura lieu à Villeurbanne est "L'AUTRE" C'est ce thème qui sera celui des échanges entre les détenues et les plasticiens. Une exposition des envois se fera et dans les prisons et sur le le lieu de la Fête du Livre. Et si on veut rêver un peu, on peut même envisager une publication. Je reste à votre disposition pour réceptionner une liste d'intervenants possibles. C'est Jean-Marc Jacob qui est chargé de mener les ateliers. Bien à vous, Gérard Picot.

MAKE YOUR OWN VINCENT VAN GOGH - Deadline : June 21st 2003 - Definition : Our exhibition "Mail-Art in honor of VINCENT van GOGH" which we held in 2000 was integrated with the special exhibition we held in the summer of 2002 (Letters of Van Gogh & Gauguin, 9 feb-2 june 2002). A catalogue will be sent to the participants soon (December 2002). We had lots of positive reactions, so that means we will arrange another one. For our next exhibition we would like to invite mail artists worldwide to send in works for a mail-art exhibition to be held in the summer of 2003. All kind of media are accepted (paintings, drawings, collages, letters, etc , but your work has to be connected with Vincent van Gogh. All works without this connection will be ignored. More details on the exhibition will be sent to participants in July 2003. The exhibition will take place in August 2004. I hope the mail-art network will surprise the public as much as Vincent surprised us with his paintings and letters.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION - I am inviting contributions from all over the world for my International Mail Art Project "Under Construction". This project aims at visualising the chaos on the "Babel Coustruction Site" immediately after the confusion of tongues. The medium should be a comic strip. These are the rules and regulations : - 1. This project is non-commercial. Neither you nor me will make a profit with this project and the resulting contributions. Please keep the expenses to a minimum, and never post anything that you might want back. Your only reward will be a sample copy of the resulting anthology, and lots of fun, of course. - 2. Everybody contributes no more than one picture. The comic strip will finally be realized as a montage. Contributions that look like careless and negligent work will not be included. - 3. It's up to you to find your own creative approach and technique as long as the result can be reproduced as a black and white print. The stronger the contrasts, the better the results. - 4. The common set-up should be DIN A4 (21x29,7cm) upright. As long as you keep those proportions, your contribution can also be submitted in a larger of smaller size. - 5. The enclosed painting, "The Tower of Babel" by Pieter Bruegel serves as a background for each picture. You are free (and very welcome) to be fairly creative in the way you handle this requirement. You can zoom in to any detail, use alienating effects... as long as the association is still there. - 6. You draw, paint, paste... as much or as little as you like. Finally your contribution will show the construction site where things are not working out quite exactly as scheduled. - 7. The contribution must include text ! Please use your own native language including your native typography and writing system. The bigger (and the more beautiful) the better. The multiplicity of languages is the real topic behind it ! - 8. The deadline for you contributions is 31 March 2003. If you know somebody who might be interested, please tell him/her about the project as soon as possible, especially if he/she is living in a rather small and obscure place with an unusual writing system...

It was about a German cook in Namibia, Africa, who had slaughtered his beloved wife and cooked parts of her in the oven. Again reality is more cruelsome than our imagination ! In his preface to his historical play "Cromwell" (1827) Hugo wrote that "romaniticism is the liberalism of literature". Hugo developed his own version of the historical novel. Among his best-known works are "The Huchback of Notre Dame" and "Les Misérables". Victor Hugo was born in Besancon (as me !). Hugo was not a rebel, and not directly involved in the campaign against the bourgeois, but he influenced deeply the Romantic Movement and the formulation of its values in France. In his later life Hugo became involved in politics as a supporter of the republican form of government. PLAISIR D'AMOUR - La centrale Jeunes FGTB Luxembourg est une centrale syndicale située dans la province de Luxembourg en Belgique. Notre approche de la vie syndicale se fait au travers de nos membres dès 12 ans. Nous suivons nos affiliés jusqu'à ce qu'ils aient un emploi, à ce moment ils sont dirigés vers des centrales professionnelles. Nos projets quittent parfois le domaine purement syndical pour mieux y revenir, il y a un an, nous avons lancé un projet d'art postal. Nous correspondons comme cela autour de grands thèmes et de valeurs fortes, et nous nous envoyons des messages ou le cachet postal fait foi. C'est coloré, c'est piquant, … C'est un bon outil … Nous participons actuellement à un grand projet dont le thème porte le joli nom de " Plaisir d'amour ". Pour les jeunes ce thème est tellement idéalisé qu'on a du mal, nous avons donc choisi de monter une exposition sur le thème des amours hétéroclites, homosexualité, relations jeunes vieux, amours inavouables, … Notre demande est de recevoir au moins un courrier sous la forme de l'art postal et sur ce thème. La création et le langage utilisé est libre, du moment que cela passe par la poste, … Et si vous désirez utiliser cet outil pour vos jeunes, il suffit de nous écrire.
